Blog 5: Mentorship and Research Reflection

1. Mentorship question: Describe your experience in how you found your mentorship?

For my summer mentorship I was lucky enough to be connected with Christian Abella, a Productions Assistant at MBS, through my mom's co-worker that works at a nail salon, her co-worker happened to be best friends with Christian so asked him if he could let me tag a long for a whole day and show me all that happens in the set and production of the TV series Revenge.

Since Christian works 5 days a week for 10 hours it would be hard for me to do my mentorship hours there considering I have to go to school and considering he's always on the move at his job driving here and there. So for my mentorship during the school year I got the opportunity to be a TA for Mr. Miller, I-Poly's ROP video teacher. Since I took his class last year he'll be teaching me more advanced things about my topic and will teach me more about the equipment we have.

2. Research question: What has been your most important article you have read so far and why?

The most important article I have read so far is "To Appreciate the Art of Film Editing, You must Start with a Frame of Reference." by Ann Hornaday. In the article it specifies all the things I need to think about when it comes to film editing, considering that I'm leaning towards the film editing aspect of film this article gave me a lot more knowledge to think about when editing, and questions I should ask myself when editing.
